On Sunday afternoon, Singapore experienced heavy rainfall across the island. This resulted in flash floods in several areas, according to the national water agency, PUB.
PUB issued flood risk warnings for thirteen locations. These included areas in Punggol, Yishun, Toa Payoh, and Bukit Timah. The intense rain caused elevated water levels in drains and canals throughout these locations.
Flash floods were reported at three specific locations. These included Yishun Avenue 7 near the intersection of Yishun Street 22, along Punggol Way on the slip road to the Tampines Expressway, and along the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway on the slip road to Buangkok East Drive.
PUB's rapid response team, along with the Land Transport Authority's vehicle recovery crew and traffic marshals, were dispatched to assist motorists affected by the flooding.
The flooding at all three locations was brought under control within an hour.

The drainage systems are usually effective; it’s just unfortunate how heavy the rainfall was.

It's a reminder of how important it is to have good urban planning in place.
