In the women's race of the Paris Marathon, Bedatu Hirpa of Ethiopia secured victory, narrowly defeating her compatriot Dera Dida by a mere four seconds. The race concluded on Sunday.
Benard Biwott of Kenya dominated the men's competition, achieving a significant lead of 48 seconds over his closest rival. He crossed the finish line with a comfortable margin.
Hirpa's winning time was two hours, 20 minutes, and 45 seconds. The 25-year-old athlete surged ahead in the final five kilometers, with Dida providing the only significant challenge. Biwott also established his lead in the final 10 kilometers of the men's race, finishing in two hours, five minutes, and 25 seconds. Ibrahim Hassan of Djibouti took second place.
Sila Kiptoo of Kenya secured third place in the men's race, finishing eight seconds behind Hassan. In the women's race, Angela Tanui, also from Kenya, claimed third place, completing the race 18 seconds after Dida.
