Boca Juniors secured their place in the last 16 of the Argentine Primera Division Apertura Tournament with a 3-1 win against Belgrano on Saturday. Goals from Marcos Rojo, Kevin Zenon, and Carlos Palacios propelled them to victory.
Currently, Boca leads Group A with 29 points, holding a three-point advantage over Argentinos Juniors. With three rounds remaining in the regular phase, the top eight teams from each group will advance to the round of 16.
Marcos Rojo, Boca's centre-back, expressed his satisfaction with the win, acknowledging the difficulty of the match and the aggressive nature of their opponents. He emphasized the team's commitment to fighting throughout the game and their enjoyment of the current moment, while also highlighting the need to continue working hard.
The match saw an early disallowed goal for Belgrano due to an offside call. Boca eventually broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Rojo scored after a defensive error. Rojo later played a crucial defensive role, preventing a goal with a header off the line. Belgrano managed to equalize in the 61st minute through a header by Lucas Menossi.
However, Boca quickly regained the lead with a goal from Zenon, assisted by Edison Cavani. Palacios then sealed the victory with a goal 14 minutes before the end of the match. Zenon, reflecting on his return to the starting lineup, emphasized the team's readiness and the importance of each player giving their best.

I still think Boca has serious weaknesses that will be exposed in the knockout stages!

Boca’s reliance on individual brilliance is worrying. Teamwork is what wins championships!

Belgrano could have easily won if it weren't for that offside call. Boca is overrated!

Cavani assisted the goal, but where was he for the rest of the match? He needs to be more involved.

This win doesn’t mean much if they can't maintain their form. They’ve got a long way to go.
