Father of Accused Teen Defends Son Amidst Tragic Stabbing Incident
The father of a Texas teenager, Karmelo Anthony, who has been charged with the stabbing death of a rival football player named Austin Metcalf, is speaking out in defense of his son. Andrew Anthony described Karmelo as a "good kid," emphasizing that he did not instigate the altercation that led to the tragic incident at a high school track event. According to police, the confrontation arose after Metcalf, 17, informed Karmelo that he was in the wrong seat, resulting in a fight that ended with Karmelo allegedly using a knife to stab Metcalf while his twin brother was nearby.
In the aftermath of the stabbing, Metcalf's family is devastated by the sudden loss of their son. Jeff Metcalf recounted the horrifying moment he saw his son being attended to on a gurney, tragically realizing the severity of his injuries. Meanwhile, Karmelo's father admitted that both families will carry the weight of this tragedy for the rest of their lives and expressed sympathy for the Metcalf family.
Metcalf's twin brother, Hunter, attempted to help his brother in his final moments but was unable to save him. Hunter conveyed his anguish, highlighting the desperate effort he made to reach his brother. The victim's mother, Meghan, grappled with the senseless nature of the attack, expressing her disbelief that a disagreement could escalate to such violence. Following the loss of his son, Jeff Metcalf has called for action to enhance security at sporting events, aiming to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
