China Responds Firmly to Washington's Tariff Increase
In light of Washington's recent announcement to elevate its tariffs on China to an alarming 104 percent, the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed its strong disapproval on Wednesday. Spokesman Lin Jian articulated that China will persist in taking decisive actions to protect its legitimate rights and interests during a routine press conference in Beijing. He emphasized that the Chinese people's essential right to development must not be taken away, nor should China's sovereignty, security, and developmental interests be compromised.
Furthermore, when questioned about the ongoing trade conflicts worldwide, Lin Jian reiterated China's openness to collaborate with different nations. He highlighted China's commitment to authentic multilateralism, while opposing all forms of unilateralism and protectionism. Lin Jian underscored the need for collective efforts to address risks and challenges in the international trade landscape and to foster a truly inclusive and universal economic globalization.
