Van Damme Denies Sex Trafficking Allegations as Criminal Complaint Filed
Jean-Claude Van Damme has dismissed allegations of sex trafficking against him as "absurd" and "grotesque." Multiple reports have surfaced accusing the actor of knowingly participating in a sexual encounter with a group of women who were victims of sex trafficking.
Van Damme's agent, Patrick Goavec, stated that the reported facts are both "grotesque and non-existent." The agent further indicated that Van Damme would not comment on the rumor, considering it unfounded. The statement was originally written in French.
A criminal complaint detailing the allegations against Van Damme has been filed with the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT). According to reports, several individuals are under investigation for forming a criminal group and engaging in pimping. They allegedly offered Van Damme five Romanian women, who were reportedly photo models, for sexual relations. The complaint alleges that Van Damme was aware of the women's circumstances.
The alleged encounter took place in Cannes, where Van Damme was reportedly given the five Romanian women. The women were described as being in a vulnerable state, with suspicions of exploitation. The next step in the case involves the High Court of Cassation in France approving criminal proceedings, after which each suspect would be required to provide statements in Romania.
Van Damme rose to fame in the 1980s with his role in "Bloodsport." He became known for his action films, including "Universal Soldier," "Double Impact," "Street Fighter," and "Kickboxer." The 64-year-old actor currently has two projects in pre-production, following his role in "The Gardener" in 2025.
