Hamas Tunnel Network Remains Largely Intact After 18 Months of Conflict, Report Reveals
A recent report broadcast on Israel's Channel 12 disclosed information regarding the status of Hamas's tunnel network in the Gaza Strip. The report indicated that despite a year and a half of military operations following the events of October 7th, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have only managed to neutralize a quarter of the group's underground infrastructure.
This suggests that Hamas retains a substantial operational capacity, both on the surface and beneath the ground. The tunnel network, often likened to a sprawling subterranean city, remains largely functional.
An internal security briefing provided further details, stating that approximately 75% of Hamas's tunnels are still intact. These tunnels continue to serve as vital assets for the group, facilitating movement, providing shelter, and supporting ongoing operations.
