Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, a 53-year-old man from India, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating renowned British cardiologist Dr. N John Camm. Yadav is accused of committing unauthorized surgeries at a Christian missionary hospital in Madhya Pradesh, where he reportedly resulted in the deaths of seven patients. In the hours leading up to his arrest, he filed a legal notice demanding a substantial sum of money from those who accused him of impersonation.
Having operated under the guise of Dr. Camm, Yadav's fraudulent activities date back nearly twenty years, during which he is alleged to have faked medical degrees and credentials. Investigations revealed that the medical degrees he claimed to hold — including an MBBS and MRCP from London — were potentially fabricated, with one registration number belonging to a woman. Authorities found no legitimate records to support his claimed qualifications.
Police investigations have pointed to various fabricated identities linked to Yadav, who is currently undergoing tests to assess any real medical knowledge. His tenure at the Damoh hospital allowed him to conduct 64 surgeries, including 45 angioplasties, which triggered alarms after several patients died. A local Child Welfare Committee raised concerns in February, leading to scrutiny of his medical credibility.
Yadav's suspected medical fraud traces back to at least 2006 when he allegedly operated at another hospital in Chhattisgarh and had reportedly caused the deaths of eight patients. The real Dr. Camm expressed discomfort over Yadav’s impersonation, which had persisted for years and involved claims of training at prestigious institutions.
Despite previous questions regarding his identity and qualifications, Yadav continued to evade the scrutiny until now. Following his arrest, he is in police custody as investigations continue into his background and the extent of his fraudulent medical practices.
