Spotsylvania County Shooting Leaves Three Dead, Investigation Underway
A shooting in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, on Tuesday resulted in at least three fatalities and injuries to three other individuals. The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) received reports of the incident around 5:30 p.m. in the suburb located approximately 60 miles south of Washington, D.C.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered multiple victims who had been shot. The sheriff’s office confirmed that three people were deceased and three others were transported to local hospitals. Major Elizabeth Scott of the sheriff's office stated at a press conference that the victims were found outside.
Video footage obtained by WTTG showed two men carrying guns in the vicinity shortly before the shooting, though the sheriff's office has not yet established a connection between them and the incident. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and active, with no suspects currently in custody. The public has been advised to avoid the area.
While no arrests have been made, it is believed that multiple individuals were involved in the shooting. The ages of the victims have not yet been released. Fredericksburg City Public Schools announced a two-hour delay for Wednesday due to the impact of the incident on the school community. Mary Washington Healthcare confirmed that they are currently treating one patient who is in fair condition.
