Palestinian Advocacy, Yemen Concerns, and Public Appearances

The British Medical Association (BMA) canceled a planned speech by Dr. Ang Swee Chai, a prominent advocate for the Palestinian cause. Dr. Chai gained international recognition for her medical work during the 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacres. Despite the cancellation, she delivered her speech to supporters gathered outside the BMA.

US President Donald Trump shared drone footage, claiming it targeted a group of Houthis. However, the targets' arrangement resembled a Yemeni tribal gathering, raising concerns about potential civilian casualties resulting from US actions in Yemen. Since Trump assumed office in January 2025, the US has conducted numerous air strikes in Yemen, resulting in at least 60 fatalities, including women and children.

A Palestinian girl mourned her friends who were killed in an Israeli strike on Gaza. The UN reported that since Israel broke the ceasefire on March 18, at least 100 children have been killed or injured daily in Gaza. The total number of children killed since October 7, 2023, has surpassed 15,000.

Ahmed Mansour, a journalist for Palestine Today and a father, was killed when an Israeli missile struck his tent near Gaza's Nasser Hospital. Israel has been accused of deliberately targeting journalists in Gaza, with over 210 journalists killed during the conflict.

Pope Francis made his first public appearance on April 6, two weeks after being discharged from the hospital. The 88-year-old pontiff, who had not been seen in public since March 23, appeared in a wheelchair with an oxygen tube.
