Taiwan Affairs Office Launches Reporting Platform for Malicious Acts Against Taiwan Compatriots

On March 26, 2025, Chen Binhua, the spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, addressed the media during a press conference in Beijing. He discussed the launch of a new online column on the official website intended for citizens to report harmful behaviors associated with supporters of "Taiwan independence" who have been targeting residents of Taiwan. The initiative has garnered notable attention, resulting in 323 email reports submitted by the end of the day.

Among those named in these reports are prominent figures such as Liu Shyh-fang, who leads Taiwan's internal affairs authority, and several legislators from the Democratic Progressive Party. Additionally, the reports highlight individuals from the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office and various proponents of the independence movement, including an influencer from the dental profession. The allegations against them include a range of malicious actions, from fabricating charges against opposition parties to outright threatening and detaining those who advocate for better relations with mainland China. According to Chen, the Office will rigorously investigate the claims and ensure that any individuals found culpable are held legally accountable, emphasizing their commitment to upholding the law and addressing these serious concerns.
