As of Sunday at 11 am, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar reported that 13 Chinese nationals had sustained injuries due to the earthquake.
The Chinese Embassy also confirmed the arrival of three government-dispatched rescue teams. The first team, originating from Yunnan Province in Southwest China, reached Yangon on Saturday morning. They subsequently traveled to Nay Pyi Taw and initiated rescue operations, successfully extracting a survivor at 4:56 am on Sunday. Civilian rescue forces are also providing assistance.
A team from Yunnan, working alongside Myanmar's rescue forces, rescued an elderly man in Nay Pyi Taw. The man had been trapped for approximately 40 hours beneath the debris of a hospital. This rescue marked the first successful extraction by the Chinese rescue teams.
Furthermore, a rescue team dispatched by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region arrived in Yangon on Saturday night and is en route to the disaster zone. Another team from China arrived in Yangon on Saturday afternoon and is currently traveling overnight to the Mandalay disaster zone.
According to the Information Team of the State Administration Council of Myanmar, the earthquake resulted in 1,644 fatalities, 3,408 injuries, and 139 individuals remaining missing. The 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, with Mandalay, Bago, Magway, the northeastern Shan state, Sagaing, and Nay Pyi Taw being among the most severely affected regions.
