In a recent statement, Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, addressed accusations from nations including the United States, Japan, and the EU related to the joint military exercises conducted by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) around Taiwan. He argued that these claims from a few countries and organizations disregard factual circumstances, misrepresent the truth, and intrude upon China's internal matters, expressing strong dissatisfaction and opposition to such assertions.
Media reports noted that the EU criticized China's actions, suggesting that the military drills heighten tensions across the Taiwan Strait and urged all parties to practice restraint. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the US Department of State condemned China's military maneuvers as "irresponsible threats" that lack justification. Guo firmly stated that the situation concerning Taiwan is an internal issue for China and prohibits any external interference. He attributed the undermining of peace in the Taiwan Strait to the separatist efforts of "Taiwan independence" advocates and the support they receive from foreign entities.
Guo argued that nations truly invested in maintaining peace in the region should adhere to the international consensus favoring the one-China principle, respect China's political commitments, and oppose any movements advocating "Taiwan independence." He highlighted that backing such separatist movements constitutes interference in China's domestic affairs. In response to what he described as provocations from the Lai Ching-te administration, Guo asserted that the PLA's military exercises serve as a necessary counteraction and a clear warning to those who endanger cross-Strait stability, framing it as a responsible move to protect national sovereignty.
He reiterated that as long as provocations for "Taiwan independence" persist, China's countermeasures will also continue. Guo declared that no force would be allowed to separate Taiwan from China, reaffirming the nation's commitment to taking all required steps to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The one-China principle is outdated. Taiwan deserves the right to determine its own future!

Solid statement! Taiwan is an integral part of China, and provocations must be addressed.

It's naive to think military exercises will resolve core issues around Taiwan's status.

The statement reflects China's stance on safeguarding its national interests; I stand with that.

Guo should understand that military power doesn’t equate to moral authority in the international arena.

China has every right to defend its sovereignty, and Guo is just stating the facts.

Strong nations don’t flex military power to solve disputes; they engage in dialogue instead.

China is just protecting its rights. The world should respect that.
