Marc Leishman of Australia secured his first tournament victory in four years at the LIV Golf Miami event. He also led Ripper GC to a team victory.
Leishman completed a bogey-free final round, scoring four-under 68, resulting in a total score of six under par. This performance earned him the individual title, surpassing Charl Schwartzel, Sergio Garcia, and Carlos Ortiz.
For his individual win, Leishman received $US4 million. He also shared in the $US3 million team purse. Bryson de Chambeau, who was the overnight leader, finished fifth. Only six players managed to finish below par for the three rounds.
Cameron Smith, a teammate of Leishman's, finished in the top 10 at Doral. Lucas Herbert tied for 18th, and Matt Jones ended in a tie for 21st.
Leishman expressed that he played some of the best golf of his career during the final round. He acknowledged that his confidence wasn't high after a previous tournament, but he knew his game was improving. He highlighted the competitive nature of the LIV Golf events.
Due to the Official World Golf Rankings not recognizing LIV Golf events, Leishman will not be participating in the upcoming Masters. However, twelve LIV Golf players will be at Augusta, either through special invitations or exemptions as past major champions. Cameron Smith, with an exemption from his 2022 Open Championship win, is among them. The Masters tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday night Australian time.

I can't take LIV Golf seriously when so many top players like Rory McIlroy have turned it down. This victory means next to nothing.

So happy for Leishman, but I wish this victory meant something in the broader golf community.
