Two prominent chemical industry groups are petitioning President Trump for a full exemption from new regulations concerning hazardous air pollution. These groups are seeking to shield their factories from the recently finalized rules.
The new regulations, established by the Biden administration last year, mandate that chemical plants monitor and actively reduce emissions of toxic pollutants. These pollutants include substances like ethylene oxide, a known carcinogen used in the production of antifreeze and plastics.
The American Chemistry Council and the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, representing the major chemical companies across the nation, are requesting a temporary presidential waiver. This waiver would apply to all polluters affected by the new rule.
In a letter dated March 31, obtained by the Environmental Defense Fund, the industry groups argued that the new requirements impose "significantly costly requirements on an unworkable timeline" for their member corporations.

This is an abuse of power and a clear sign that the regulations are being ignored. They're trying to get away with murder!

Call your representatives and urge them to block this waiver! Don't let them sacrifice us for their profits.

This petition exemplifies the problems of lobbying and corporate influence. We need stricter regulations, not loopholes!

It all boils down to profits over people. Time for change!

The cost of compliance isn't worth a life? Something is seriously wrong when corporations have this much power.
