As of 6 am local time on Sunday, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence (MND) reported the detection of seven Chinese aircraft sorties and seven Chinese naval vessels operating in the vicinity of Taiwan. The MND issued a statement detailing these activities.
The MND also indicated that five of the seven aircraft sorties crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's northern and eastern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The situation was being closely monitored, and appropriate responses were implemented.
On Saturday, the MND reported twelve aircraft sorties and six naval vessels operating around Taiwan up until 6 am local time. Nine of the twelve aircraft sorties crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's southwestern and eastern ADIZ.
Following recent joint military drills conducted by China around Taiwan, which concluded the previous night, the United States and the European Union reiterated their disapproval of any unilateral attempts to alter the status quo in the Taiwan Strait.
The US President emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait and advocated for a peaceful resolution to cross-strait issues. The US also reiterated its disapproval of any unilateral attempts to modify the status quo through force or coercion. The US Department of State expressed concern that China's confrontational military actions and rhetoric escalate tensions and jeopardize regional and global security.
