AI and Digital Tech Drive Green Transition at Zhongguancun Forum

The 2025 Zhongguancun Forum highlighted AI and digital technologies in green industrial upgrades and sustainable development.

At the Carbon Peak forum, Ding Chibiao (Chinese Academy of Sciences) emphasized AI's role in reshaping energy systems and China's carbon goals. AI drives green transitions, with China aiming for carbon neutrality by 2060. AI has improved efficiency in high-carbon industries, and interdisciplinary collaboration is key.

Ye Mao (Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics) detailed AI-driven chemical engineering progress. A team led by Liu Zhongmin has pioneered AI applications since 2016, launching Chem-ELLM and its upgraded version. The model is being adopted by chemical companies, with traditional engineering and AI-human collaboration continuing.

At the International Forum, experts discussed digital technology's role in the UN's 2030 Agenda. Guo Huadong (Chinese Academy of Sciences) unveiled the Beijing Initiative, promoting AI, big data, and space technology to combat climate change and poverty. Digital tools are key for optimizing energy and resource management. China's SDGSAT-1 satellite provides data to aid in monitoring and disaster response.
