Actor's Profanity-Laced Tirade at MSNBC Producer Following Obama Op-Ed Controversy

According to a new book, George Clooney allegedly erupted in anger at an MSNBC producer after Mika Brzezinski, co-host of Morning Joe, suggested that former President Barack Obama had influenced Clooney's op-ed. The op-ed, published in the New York Times, called for President Joe Biden to allow another Democrat to run against Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

During a July segment of the morning show, Brzezinski speculated that Obama played a significant role in Clooney's decision to write the op-ed. This assertion reportedly infuriated Clooney, as detailed in journalist Chris Whipple's book about the Biden campaign. Whipple's account was shared with The Red Letter.

Clooney reportedly confronted an MSNBC producer over the phone, expressing his outrage at the suggestion that Obama had influenced his writing. He allegedly used profanity, questioning how Brzezinski could link him to Obama in such a way. Other reports at the time also speculated about Obama's involvement, with some suggesting Clooney had informed Obama of the op-ed beforehand.

The situation escalated when the producer denied any involvement in prompting Brzezinski's comments. Clooney reportedly accused the producer of betraying him, further escalating the profanity-laced argument. The producer responded, emphasizing the nature of the morning talk show and downplaying the significance of the comments. The two reportedly continued their heated exchange for several hours.

Clooney has a history of supporting Democratic candidates, including Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Biden. He hosted fundraisers for Biden in both 2020 and 2024. However, shortly after hosting a fundraiser last year, he published the op-ed calling for Biden to step down.
