During a preliminary hearing on Friday, Taylor Schabusiness, who has been convicted for murder, caused a disturbance by suddenly leaping at her attorney. Shouting incoherently, she was quickly subdued by several sheriff’s deputies as her attorney appeared visibly shaken but unharmed.
Schabusiness was deemed competent to face new allegations of assaulting a prison guard at Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Wisconsin, where she is serving a life sentence for the brutal killing and dismemberment of Shad Thyrion. This crime, committed during a meth-fueled encounter in 2022, involved shocking acts, including decapitation and the grotesque disposal of Thyrion's head, which was found by his mother in a bucket at their residence in Green Bay.
The latest incident reportedly took place on July 24, when Schabusiness informed a guard that she had a staple in her arm and required medical attention. While being treated, she violently lashed out at a nurse during an attempt to remove the staple, grabbing a metal table and striking the guard in an altercation that necessitated the use of pepper spray to contain her. Witnesses noted that Schabusiness laughed throughout the confrontation. Following her outburst in court, proceedings continued with her participating remotely via Zoom. This isn't the first instance of her aggressive behavior; earlier this year, she assaulted her then-attorney after a delay in her trial, leading to that attorney stepping away from her case shortly thereafter.

The details of that initial crime are stomach-churning. The thought of the victim's mother finding the head... I can't imagine the pain.

This is the definition of evil. Her actions are beyond the pale.

It's infuriating that she has the privilege of a lawyer that she can attack. She is a monster, pure and simple.

This highlights the need for better training of prison staff to deal with violent inmates. How can the guards be more protected?

This woman is a danger to everyone. She needs to be isolated and the guards need to be protected at all costs. No empathy for someone who committed such a heinous crime.

Perhaps we need to examine the methods used to subdue her. Is violence always necessary?

Absolutely horrific. How can someone be capable of such brutality and then act out like this in court? The total disregard for human life is chilling.

The justice system needs to be examined. A competent person attacks her lawyer and they just continue with the zoom calls? something is wrong.
