Local Tsunami Possible, No Impact on China's Coast
A 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, with a depth of 30 kilometers. The epicenter was located outside the Pacific region, but the earthquake may trigger a local tsunami around the area. However, China's Ministry of Natural Resources has assured that the tsunami will not affect the coastal areas of China.
The earthquake was strongly felt in Yangon, Myanmar's largest city. Several places in Southwest China's Yunnan province also experienced noticeable tremors.
The National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center, which is also the tsunami warning center of China's Ministry of Natural Resources, has stated that the earthquake may trigger a local tsunami around the epicenter. However, as the epicenter is located outside the Pacific region, the tsunami will not affect the coastal areas of China.
The China Earthquake Networks Center reported the earthquake at 2:20 pm Beijing time on Friday.

I'm so angry. This could have been prevented if the government had been better prepared.
