China's Eastern Theater Command Vows to "Smash" Any Challenge to National Unity

General Lin Xiangyang, commander of the Eastern Theater Command of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA), declared the military's unwavering commitment to safeguarding national unity and territorial integrity. Speaking at a symposium in Beijing marking the 20th anniversary of the Anti-Secession Law, General Lin emphasized the PLA's intensified efforts to modernize its forces and strengthen combat readiness.

He highlighted the accelerated military reforms, expanded joint exercises and training, and the introduction of advanced weapons and equipment, all bolstering the PLA's ability to win informatized and intelligent warfare. General Lin issued a stern warning to "Taiwan independence" separatists and external forces attempting to destabilize the Taiwan Strait. He declared that the PLA, alongside the Chinese people, including those in Taiwan, would take all necessary measures to deter and crush any such attempts.

General Lin expressed confidence in the PLA's ability to thwart any activities undermining national unity and territorial integrity. He emphasized the Eastern Theater Command's adherence to the Communist Party of China's strategy for resolving the Taiwan question and its unwavering commitment to maintaining high combat readiness. He concluded by stating that the PLA is actively building reliable means and stronger capabilities to ensure the complete reunification of the motherland.
