Women Leaders Gather at Global Women's Leadership Summit
The World Women Organization's Global Women's Leadership Summit, held on March 21st, 2023, brought together women leaders and entrepreneurs to celebrate their contributions and share their experiences. The event coincided with the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark document outlining strategic goals for gender equality.
The summit highlighted the crucial role of women in driving economic, social, and political change. Twelve women were recognized for their achievements in various fields, receiving awards for their leadership and contributions.
Angela R.M., director-general of the World Women Organization, emphasized the importance of women's leadership in tackling global challenges. "Women's leadership is the key to tackling today's most pressing challenges — from poverty to climate change," she said. "As global women leaders, we must stand in solidarity, share knowledge, and speak with one voice to advance the rights and dignity of all women and girls."
Jing Zhao Cesarone, chair of the summit, shared her passion for connecting women globally and facilitating meaningful dialogues. "Bringing female leaders together, where they can inspire, empower and mentor one another through mutual sharing, is a platform that enables women to achieve better development and sustainable growth," she said.
Cesarone also expressed her desire to help more companies, especially those led by female CEOs, expand internationally and engage in cross-border business opportunities. "We focus more on the growth women experience in entrepreneurship and business, and as internationalization continues, women now have greater global perspectives," she said.
Padmini Murthy, vice-chair of the summit, highlighted the importance of the event in bringing women together and commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Platform of Action. "The summit brought together women from various countries and from different walks of life," she said. "It was a great platform for women to express their views and come together in sisterhood."
The World Women Organization, established in 1975, remains dedicated to promoting gender equality, advancing women's development rights, and enhancing family responsibility and social harmony globally. The organization strives to create a more sustainable and inclusive society where women, children, and families can thrive.
