China and France Reaffirm Commitment to Climate Action
China and France have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing international cooperation to address climate challenges. The joint statement, issued on the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, underscores the unwavering determination of both nations to advance international climate governance.
During talks with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced China's support for France in hosting the 10th-anniversary commemorative activities of the Paris Agreement. He also confirmed China's participation in the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice this June, sending a high-level delegation.
The discussions between Wang and Barrot yielded a series of agreements aimed at expanding open cooperation, deepening people-to-people bonds, and strengthening multilateralism. These include holding three high-level meetings on strategy, economy and finance, and people-to-people exchanges throughout the year, as well as parliamentary regular exchange meetings to enhance mutual understanding and build consensus.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. Wang urged both sides to remain good partners, fostering mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, resolving issues through consultation, and creating new prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Instead of collaborating with China, France should focus on pushing for stricter international environmental regulations.

How can we trust this commitment when China is constantly building new coal plants and ignoring environmental regulations?
