China Braces for Significant Temperature Drop and Dusty Weather After Unusually Warm Spell

China to Experience Significant Temperature Drop After Unusually Warm Spell

While some parts of China will continue to enjoy warm weather this week, a significant temperature drop is expected across most of the country from Tuesday to Saturday, bringing an end to an unusual nationwide warm spell. This information was released by the National Meteorological Center on Sunday.

Southern regions, where temperatures have reached highs of 30 degrees Celsius, could see a plunge of up to 14 degrees Celsius. This dramatic shift follows a period of gradual warming since March 16th, which saw temperatures in eastern and southern parts of the country exceeding 25 degrees Celsius by Wednesday. Some areas in the Huanghuai, Jianghuai, and northern Jiangnan regions were even forecast to reach record highs for March.

Temperatures south of the Yellow River were expected to peak above 30 degrees Celsius, with some locations in Jiangnan and South China possibly hitting 35 degrees Celsius.

However, this warming trend is expected to reverse beginning on Tuesday. Temperatures will drop by 8 to 12 degrees Celsius across most of the country. In eastern Northwest China, western North China, southern Huanghuai, Jianghuai, and Jiangnan, the temperature could drop by as much as 14 to 16 degrees Celsius, with some areas experiencing a plunge of more than 20 degrees Celsius. In North China, daytime highs are forecast to fall to between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius.

Strong winds are also expected from Tuesday to Saturday, with speeds reaching levels 4 to 6 in most areas. Gusts of levels 7 to 9 are forecast in the Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia autonomous regions, Gansu province, and northern North China, possibly hitting levels 10 to 11.

These winds will bring dusty weather, expanding from eastern and southern Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, western Gansu, and the northern part of the Ningxia Hui autonomous region to the Northwest, southern Northeast China, North China, and Huanghuai regions.

The meteorological center warned of significant temperature fluctuations and a widespread dust event in the north. They advised the public to stay updated on forecasts, dress appropriately, and take precautions against respiratory hazards.
