China Warns Philippines Against US Military Cooperation Targeting Third Party

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has expressed its stance on the military cooperation between the Philippines and the United States. The ministry's spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, emphasized that any defense or security cooperation between the Philippines and other countries should not target any third party or harm their interest, nor should it threaten regional peace or escalate tensions in the region.

Guo's remarks came in response to media inquiries regarding reports that the Philippine Ambassador to the US, Jose Manuel Romualdez, stated that the US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is scheduled to visit the Philippines on March 28 to 29. During the visit, Secretary Hegseth is expected to meet with the Philippine President and Secretary of Defense. This visit underscores the solid alliance between the Philippines and the US, and highlights Philippines' role in US defense strategy.

Guo also noted that the Philippines seeks to benefit from its allies, including the US, Japan, and Australia, particularly in modernizing its military capabilities, so as to be better prepared should there be conflicts in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson warned that those who willingly serve as chess pieces will be deserted in the end. He also urged some in the Philippines to stop serving as other countries' mouthpiece and no more stunt for personal political agenda.

China is not a threat to the Philippines. They are a potential partner and the Philippines should explore ways to work with them.

It is important to remember that the US has its own interests in the region, which may not always align with the Philippines'.

Guo's warning about being used as a chess piece is valid. The Philippines should not allow themselves to be manipulated by other countries.

It's ironic that China lectures the Philippines about not serving as a mouthpiece when they themselves are constantly pushing their own agenda.

China's concerns about the US-Philippines defense cooperation are self-serving. They are afraid of being challenged in the region.

It is important for the Philippines to maintain a neutral stance in the US-China rivalry. They should not take sides and should focus on maintaining good relations with both countries.

China's hypocrisy is astounding. They claim to be concerned about regional peace while actively militarizing the South China Sea.

China is right to be concerned about any military cooperation that targets them. They have a legitimate interest in protecting their national security.

The Philippines should be cautious about the US military presence in the region. It could escalate tensions and make them a target for conflict.

The Philippines is not a chess piece. They are a partner and ally of the US, and their cooperation is based on mutual respect and shared interests.
