From Sudan to South Korea, Conflicts and Tragedies Mark the Season

Spring has sprung, but for many, it also means the arrival of dreaded allergies. Experts warn that pollen levels are highest in the mornings and on windy days. Additionally, air pollution and climate change are contributing to longer and more intense allergy seasons.

Meanwhile, tensions continue to rise in the Middle East. In Sudan, the army has retaken control of key sites in Khartoum, including the Central Bank and the General Intelligence headquarters. This marks a significant victory against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

Tragedy struck South Korea as a wildfire claimed the lives of three firefighters and a public servant. The government has declared a state of emergency in southeastern regions as multiple fires continue to rage across the country.

In Israel, tens of thousands of citizens took to the streets to protest the ongoing war in Gaza. They demanded an end to the conflict to protect the lives of Israeli captives and opposed the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar.

The war in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of over 700 Palestinians since Tuesday and nearly 50,000 since October 2023. Additionally, at least 41 more Palestinians were killed and 61 wounded in Israeli air strikes in the last 24 hours.

Adding to the turmoil, a Palestinian family in Hebron returned home after Iftar to find their house occupied by illegal Israeli settlers. Despite the blatant seizure, Israeli forces refused to intervene, allowing the theft to stand.
