The Trump administration is revoking the temporary legal status of over 532,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela who entered the U.S. legally. These migrants were allowed to fly directly to the U.S. after applying from abroad under a policy started during the Biden administration. However, President Trump suspended the program when he returned to office in January.
The program, known as CHNV, allowed the migrants and their immediate family members to fly into the U.S. if they had American sponsors. They could then remain in the country for two years under a temporary immigration status known as parole.
The Trump administration is ending the program because they believe it failed to achieve its goals. They argue that the program allowed migrants to compete for American jobs and undercut American workers. They also claim that the program forced career civil servants to promote the program even when fraud was identified.
However, the notice in the Federal Register said some migrants in the U.S. under CHNV may be allowed to remain in the country on a case-by-case basis.
The Trump administration's efforts to remove legal and illegal migrants from the U.S. since taking office in January as part of his immigration agenda have faced numerous legal obstacles.

This is a violation of international law. The US has an obligation to protect refugees. This decision puts us in violation of that obligation.

This will hurt our economy. Immigrants contribute significantly to our workforce and communities. This shortsighted decision will harm us all.

This is a difficult but necessary decision. It's time for these migrants to take responsibility for their own future.

We need to focus on helping legal immigrants who are already here. We don't have the resources to continue taking in more.

We must resist this injustice. We must speak out, protest, and pressure our representatives to take action.

This is not who we are as Americans. We are a nation of immigrants, and we must stand up for our values of compassion and justice.

Trump is upholding the law and the will of the American people. This decision was a campaign promise he is fulfilling.

Shame on the Trump administration for using fear mongering to justify this cruelty. These migrants are fleeing violence and poverty. They deserve our compassion, not deportation.

Finally, someone is putting American workers first! These migrants were taking jobs away from deserving Americans.

Trump is acting like a dictator, not a leader. This unilateral decision undermines our democratic principles and sets a dangerous precedent.
