A Constant in a Turbulent World
At a recent conference on China's foreign policy, Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the question of whether the recent dialogue between Russia and the US would impact China-Russia strategic cooperation. He emphasized that the historical logic and internal driving force of China-Russia friendship would remain unchanged regardless of the evolving international landscape.
Wang highlighted the unique path of "non-alliance, non-confrontation and not targeting any third party" that China and Russia have adopted in their relations. He described this as a pioneering effort in forging a new model of major-country relations, setting a positive example for relations between neighboring countries.
Wang emphasized the maturity, resilience, and stability of the China-Russia relationship, describing it as a constant in a turbulent world rather than a variable in geopolitical games. He explained that both countries have learned from historical experiences and are committed to maintaining permanent good-neighborly relations, engaging in comprehensive strategic coordination, and pursuing mutually beneficial cooperation and win-win outcomes. This approach, according to Wang, serves the fundamental interests of both countries and aligns with the direction of progress of the time.
2024 marked the 75th anniversary of China-Russia diplomatic relations, and President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin met in person three times, jointly steering the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era into a historic new phase.
2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II. China and Russia, having fought fiercely on the main battlefields in Asia and Europe, made tremendous national sacrifices and significant historical contributions to the global victory against fascism. Both sides will take this important historical milestone as an opportunity to uphold the correct view of World War II history, defend the achievements of the victory, safeguard the UN-centered international system, and promote a more just and equitable international order.

The 'win-win' cooperation Wang touts only benefits the ruling elites in both countries, not the people. This is just another example of sacrificing human rights and freedom for economic gain.

Wang Yi's statement about 'non-alliance, non-confrontation' is pure hypocrisy. China's aggressive actions in the South China Sea and Russia's invasion of Ukraine directly contradict this claim.

The combined economic and military power of China and Russia has the potential to reshape the global order and challenge the dominance of the West.

The strengthening of China-Russia ties is a major threat to global security and democracy. The rest of the world needs to stand united against their authoritarian ambitions.
