Senior Chinese Official Meets with Former U.S. Treasury Secretary
He Lifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Financial and Economic Affairs, met with former U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson in Beijing on Sunday. The two sides discussed China-U.S. economic and trade relations and the global economy.
He noted that China's economy is maintaining its recovery momentum, driven by innovation and a growing domestic market. He also highlighted the progress made in China's new development pattern, which emphasizes self-reliance and internal circulation.

By engaging with China, we are enabling their totalitarian regime and helping them maintain their grip on power.

This is a dangerous precedent. Engaging with China sends a message that their actions are acceptable, when they are in fact destabilising and harmful.

This meeting does nothing to address the major issues in the US-China relationship, such as China's unfair trade practices and military aggression.

This meeting is just another example of the West appeasing China, despite their bad behavior. We need to hold them accountable, not cater to their demands.

He Lifeng talking about internal circulation while they are engaged in debt-trap diplomacy in developing countries? This is hypocritical and manipulative.

It's good to see dialogue continuing between the US and China. Both countries need to work together to solve global challenges.

Dialogue is always better than conflict. I hope this is a step towards a more constructive relationship between both nations.
