In a recent drug bust in Yingjing, Sichuan Province, China, police arrested five suspects after a groom's friend gifted him methamphetamine disguised as "wedding cash."
On the groom's wedding day, his friend, surnamed Li, presented him with a gift of 1 gram of elaborately packaged methamphetamine along with traditional cash gifts. The groom, excited by the unexpected present, decided to share it with his friends, some of whom had a history of drug use. They attempted to consume the narcotics together, hoping to hide their illegal activity under the guise of celebrating the wedding.
Acting on a tip, public security authorities apprehended the five suspects involved in the case. Further investigations are currently underway.
According to China's Law on Penalties for Administration of Public Security and relevant regulations, individuals found using or injecting drugs face 10 to 15 days of detention and fines of up to 2,000 yuan ($276). Under China's Criminal Law, those who induce, instigate, or deceive others into drug use face up to three years in prison, criminal detention, or public surveillance, along with fines. In severe cases, penalties range from three to seven years of imprisonment plus fines.

Unbelievable! Turning a wedding into a drug bust? That's just messed up.

So sad for the groom, his friends, and their families. Drugs can destroy lives.

What a terrible "friend" to ruin the groom's wedding day like that. Shameful!

This just reinforces the negative stereotypes about Chinese people and drugs. It's frustrating!

At least the police were able to intervene before something worse happened.
