Senator Michael Bennet, a Democrat from Colorado, raised questions about Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's leadership during a town hall meeting. Bennet suggested that it might be time for Schumer to step down, particularly in light of his support for advancing a Republican funding bill.
"Let me just say it's important for people to know, you know, when it's time to go," Bennet said at the town hall. He added that it's always important to evaluate whether leaders are in the right place, and that Democrats would certainly be having that conversation.
Bennet also criticized the Democratic Party's approach to government funding negotiations, arguing that it wasn't clear whether Democrats were fighting for the American people. He called for a new plan for the future, one that wasn't based on the same old playbook or the same old people.
The audience at the town hall was not receptive to Bennet's comments. They booed and shouted at him, accusing him of not fighting for them or their children. One audience member even chided Bennet for voting in favor of several of Trump's nominees.
Bennet attempted to quiet the crowd, but they continued to shout at him for a full minute. He eventually had to yell "Stop it!" repeatedly before they calmed down.

I'm glad Bennet is calling out Schumer for supporting the Republican funding bill. It's time to put the needs of the American people first.

What a disgrace! Bennet is disrespecting both Schumer and the democratic process.

This is why people are so cynical about politics. Bennet is putting his own interests ahead of the needs of the country.

Democrats need to stick together, not tear each other down! Bennet is weakening the party!

It's refreshing to see a politician who is willing to stand up for what he believes in, even when it's unpopular.

It's important to have leaders who are willing to listen to the people and respond to their concerns.
