Ceasefire talks between Russia and Ukraine are scheduled for Sunday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, according to a U.S. envoy.
The U.S. delegation will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. This comes after a phone conversation between President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
According to U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, a ceasefire on energy infrastructure and targets in the Black Sea has been agreed upon by the Russians. He is hopeful that the Ukrainians will also agree to it.
Witkoff believes that a full ceasefire could be achieved relatively soon if this initial agreement is reached.
The United States has been pushing for a 30-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine to lay the groundwork for a broader settlement to the three-year conflict.

👎 This is a betrayal of democratic values. It allows Russia to continue its oppression of the Ukrainian people.

🤬 This ceasefire is a sham. It won't stop the violence or bring peace to Ukraine.
