Xi Jinping's Inspection Tour in Guizhou Province
Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Guizhou Province in southwest China from Monday to Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of high-quality development and driving growth through comprehensive reform and opening-up.
During his visit, Xi visited a village of the Dong ethnic group, inspecting the surroundings and local shops, and engaging in conversations with store owners, tourists, and villagers. He also visited an exhibition center to learn about the preservation and inheritance of Dong culture, and observed the batik-making process at a specialty industrial base.
Xi stressed the importance of preserving and creatively transforming and developing the cultures of ethnic minority groups as an integral part of Chinese culture. He also expressed hope that the villagers can further revitalize the countryside as Chinese modernization advances.
In the provincial capital Guiyang, Xi heard reports from provincial authorities on their work. He underscored the need to strengthen innovation-driven development with the real economy as the foundation, actively developing strategic emerging industries, and enhancing industries such as the digital economy and new energy.
Xi also emphasized the importance of environmental protection, transforming ecological strengths into development advantages, and eliminating local protectionism, market segmentation, and "rat race" competition to create a stable and predictable business environment. He urged Guizhou to actively participate in the country's all-around opening-up drive.
Xi highlighted the need to develop modern, efficient agriculture with distinctive mountain characteristics tailored to Guizhou's local conditions, while cultivating leading industries with regional features and lasting market competitiveness. He also stressed the importance of harnessing Guizhou's rich historical heritage, vibrant revolutionary culture, and diverse ethnic traditions to drive economic and social development.
Xi noted that achieving high-quality development requires unwavering adherence to the Party's leadership. He emphasized the importance of the Party-wide education campaign to implement the Party central leadership's "eight-point decision" on improving conduct, and called on Party organizations at all levels to encourage Party members and officials to uphold exemplary conduct and drive development.
Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, accompanied Xi on the inspection tour.

Opening up to foreign investment sounds good, but it will only benefit big corporations, not the local people.

The government is focusing on development, but not the kind that benefits the people. All they care about is enriching themselves.

Xi Jinping's policies are pushing China in the wrong direction. They are leading to greater inequality, environmental destruction, and political repression.
