Beijing's Air Quality Shows Significant Improvement
Beijing's air quality has shown remarkable improvement in the first two months of 2024, with the average PM2.5 concentration dropping to a record low of 26.8 micrograms per cubic meter. This represents a significant 29.5% decrease compared to the same period last year.
The city also enjoyed 54 days of "excellent" air quality, accounting for an impressive 91.5% of the total days during this period. This achievement can be attributed to Beijing's persistent efforts in air pollution control.
In January, the city launched a comprehensive action plan to improve air quality. This plan included promoting cleaner energy sources and implementing stricter industrial emission standards. Additionally, the municipal government intensified its monthly review mechanism to ensure accountability at the district and township levels.
