A fire alarm blared at the Fire and Rescue Command Center in Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. The nearest drone station sprang into action. Within minutes, a drone soared towards the smoke-engulfed grassland fire, transmitting real-time thermal imaging to the command center.
The command center swiftly relayed instructions to the approaching fire crew, who arrived within nine minutes. This marked the first operational deployment of the command center's new drone system.
Zhang Kang, a representative of the command center, praised the drones' exceptional mobility and rapid response, providing crucial real-time data for precise firefighting deployment. Compared to traditional fire reconnaissance, the drone system significantly improves response time and efficiency, revolutionizing firefighting operations.
Xiuzhou District now boasts eight drone stations, offering rapid, 24/7 emergency response. These "smart sentinels" strategically placed in industrial zones, high-risk residential areas, and crowded locations, stand ready to deploy at a moment's notice.
Since its launch in December 2024, the Xiuzhou Aviation System has established a fully connected drone emergency network. By March 13, 2025, the drones had completed 965 patrols, flown over 7,911 minutes across 2,133.8 kilometers, and issued 2,819 early warnings.
Acting as the city's "eyes in the sky," these drones enhance safety by detecting risks in real-time and supporting emergency teams, creating a stronger shield for residents.
Xiuzhou is expanding the role of drones beyond policing and firefighting to encompass broader emergency response needs. In urban management, drones now monitor illegal waste dumping and construction dust, providing real-time data for law enforcement.
As drone applications continue to expand, Xiuzhou is steadily building a smart and efficient urban emergency management system.
