Zelenskyy Cautious About Peace Proposals, Demands Clarity
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed caution regarding peace proposals following President Donald Trump's call with Russia's Vladimir Putin. He emphasized that Ukraine would not recognize Russian claims over occupied Ukrainian territories.
"For us, the red line is the recognition of the Ukrainian temporarily occupied territories as Russian. We will not go for it," Zelenskyy declared.
He plans to discuss the details of the proposals with Trump, emphasizing the need for clarity and transparency.
"We will support any proposals that lead to a sustainable, just peace. But for this we must understand what is at stake. What are the details? And I hope to God that we know all these details, so that the partners talk to us. Because there are two sides in this war – Russia and Ukraine. Trying to negotiate without Ukraine, in my view, will not be productive," Zelenskyy stated.
Prisoner Exchange and Ceasefire Talks
Zelenskyy confirmed a prisoner exchange with Russia, with 175 Ukrainian soldiers returning home. He also acknowledged ongoing attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, despite ceasefire agreements.
The White House announced that the leaders agreed on an energy and infrastructure ceasefire, technical negotiations on a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, and discussions towards a full ceasefire and permanent peace. These negotiations are set to begin immediately in the Middle East.
However, discrepancies emerged regarding discussions on military aid to Ukraine. Putin reportedly stated that a complete cessation of aid was a key condition for ending the war, while Trump denied discussing aid altogether.

The US should not be involved in another foreign war. This conflict has nothing to do with our national security. Time to come home!

Putin is a dictator, he can never be trusted. Zelenskyy should reject any deal he offers and fight to the last Ukrainian.

This war is not about NATO, it's about Putin's desire to rebuild the Russian empire. The West must stand united against his aggression.

This war is a tragedy, but it's a tragedy of Zelenskyy's own making. He should have listened to warnings about NATO expansion.

This war has gone on long enough. It's time for Zelenskyy to stop being influenced by the West and negotiate peace, regardless of the cost.
