Lax Immigration Policies in Colorado Attract Violent Gangs
The acting head of the DEA, Derek Maltz, has accused Colorado's lax immigration policies of attracting dangerous criminal gangs, including Tren de Aragua (TdA), one of the most violent in America.
Maltz claims that Colorado has become a "command and control" center for TdA, which has been linked to heinous crimes like the murder of nursing student Laken Riley and the takeover of an apartment building in Aurora, Colorado.
Maltz blames the state's Democratic leadership for allowing TdA and other criminals to "take advantage of vulnerabilities and weaknesses" in Colorado's laws. He criticizes the state's open border policies and the lack of enforcement against illegal immigration.
Maltz urges state leaders to prioritize public safety and stop playing politics. He calls on them to unite with law enforcement and federal agencies to crack down on violent criminal immigrants.
Despite criticism, Maltz assures that the federal government is taking a "whole of government" approach to combat TdA and other migrant criminals, regardless of Colorado's laws. He warns TdA members to "start running now" and assures the public that law enforcement agencies are working diligently to hold them accountable.
Colorado's Democratic senators, Michael Bennett and John Hickenlooper, did not respond to requests for comment. Governor Polis' representative, Eric Maruyama, acknowledged cooperation with the DEA but shifted blame to the federal government for failing to address immigration issues. He emphasized the state's efforts to improve public safety through gun control and law enforcement initiatives.

This is a classic example of dog-whistle politics. Preying on people's fears to score political points.

Instead of building walls, let's build bridges. Cooperation, not division, is the way to combat crime.

This is fear-mongering, pure and simple. There are dangerous criminals of all backgrounds, not just immigrants.

It's time to put public safety first! We need to crack down on criminal immigrants who exploit our open borders.

Targeting immigrants will only create distrust and hamper communities' ability to work with police. It's counterproductive!
