China Releases First International Standard for Negative Pressure Ambulances
China has taken a leading role in the development of a new international standard for negative pressure ambulances. The "Technical Specification for Medical Cabins of Negative Pressure Ambulance" (ISO/TS17430:2025) is the first of its kind and will significantly enhance the safety and effectiveness of patient care in highly infectious environments.
Negative pressure ambulances are crucial for the safe isolation and transport of patients with infectious diseases. They play a vital role in controlling the spread of respiratory illnesses and other contagious diseases. The new standard outlines the technical requirements for the medical cabins of these ambulances, including sealing and isolation performance, negative pressure performance, ventilation rate, directional airflow, disinfection system functions, and filtration and disinfection devices.
The release of this standard is a significant step forward in the global fight against infectious diseases. It provides a reference for the technical specifications of negative pressure ambulance medical cabins worldwide and will have a positive impact on prevention and control efforts. Experts from China, France, Italy, and other countries collaborated on the research and development of this standard, demonstrating the importance of international cooperation in addressing global health challenges.
