The World Games 2025 Torch Unveiled in Chengdu
Bamboo Dream in Chinese, which also sounds like "chasing dreams"), was unveiled in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province. This marks a significant milestone in the history of TWG, as it is the first time the event will have its own torch.
The design of the Zhumeng torch draws inspiration from the Grand Bronze Standing Figure at the Sanxingdui Ruins site in Sichuan. This iconic cultural relic represents the wisdom of Chinese civilization's unity in diversity. The torch's shape, colors, and patterns cleverly convey the philosophy of The World Games and tell China's story.
The torch symbolizes passion, peace, unity, and excellence. Its design incorporates elements that reflect these values, such as the bamboo shoot, which symbolizes humility, modesty, and strength, and the phoenix-shaped holy bird, which represents peace and harmony.
The nozzle of the torch is modeled after the Bronze Standing Figure Wearing a Sun-shaped Crown unearthed at the Jinsha Site in Chengdu, showcasing the city's profound culture. It radiates energy like the sun, infusing athletes participating in TWG 2025 Chengdu with inexhaustible vitality and symbolizing their spirit in seeking excellence.
Unveiled alongside the torch was the theme song "Zhumeng" (Chasing Dreams), which shares its name and symbolism with the torch. The song's lyrics aim to capture the inclusiveness of Chengdu and the passion of The World Games.
TWG is the highest-level international multi-sport event for non-Olympic sports, with events mainly focused on non-Olympic disciplines. Chengdu is the first city in the Chinese mainland to bid for this event, which is set to be held from August 7 to August 17.

Why does everything have to be "themed" nowadays? Just let the games speak for themselves.

Finally, a torch for The World Games! It's about time this event got its own recognition.

The symbolism is way too forced. It's clear they're just trying to push a narrative.

This torch looks like it's gonna break the moment someone touches it.
