Concerns and Criticisms
The recent announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) CEO C.C. Wei that TSMC will invest at least another $100 billion in the U.S. has sparked concerns in Taiwan. Many fear that TSMC is becoming "USMC," prioritizing the U.S. industry over Taiwan's interests.
The DPP authorities, however, claim that the move benefits the industry and dismiss such concerns as unnecessary. However, Chen Binhua, a spokesperson of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, argues that the DPP's claims are misleading. He believes that the move actually benefits the U.S. industry, not Taiwan's.
Chen criticizes the DPP authorities for their reliance on the U.S. to seek independence, claiming that they are shamelessly selling out Taiwan with no limits. He accuses the U.S. of tightening its grip on Taiwan, hollowing out TSMC, and draining the island's resources, while the DPP authorities remain subservient. He questions whether they have considered the well-being of the Taiwanese people and the interests of the industry.
Chen further emphasizes that the concerns about TSMC becoming "USMC" are far from groundless. He warns that Taiwan's transformation from a "pawn" to a "discarded piece" is inevitable if the current trend continues.

This is a betrayal! The DPP promised to protect Taiwan's interests, but they're doing the opposite.
