China has expressed its support for the Gaza reconstruction plan endorsed at the 20th Extraordinary Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning made the announcement on Wednesday.
The plan, proposed by Egypt and endorsed during the session held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, aims to ensure the 2.1 million Palestinians living in Gaza can remain there.
Mao reiterated Foreign Minister Wang Yi's support for the plan and stated that China always supports the legitimate concerns and just positions of Arab and Islamic countries.
China believes that the post-war governance of Gaza should follow the principle of "the Palestinian people governing Palestine" and that the Palestinians should be allowed to reconstruct their homes in their own territory.
Mao emphasized that the Palestinian question must be addressed through the two-state solution eventually and that China will continue to work with the international community toward this end.

The plan's focus on post-war reconstruction offers a pathway towards rebuilding the infrastructure and экономики of Gaza.

Instead of focusing solely on reconstruction, China should also advocate for the lifting of the blockade on Gaza, which severely restricts access to essential goods and hinders economic development.
