Vegas Golden Knights Reward Goaltender Adin Hill With $37.5M Contract Extension

The Vegas Golden Knights have secured the services of goaltender Adin Hill for the foreseeable future, signing him to a significant six-year contract extension worth $37.5-million, the team announced on Friday. This move is a notable acknowledgment of Hill's instrumental role in leading the Golden Knights to their first Stanley Cup championship back in 2023.

Starting next NHL season, Hill's annual salary-cap impact will be $6.25-million, and his contract will keep him with the team through the end of the 2030-2031 hockey season. General Manager Kelly McCrimmon stated the official announcement, underscoring the organization's confidence in Hill's continued value to the franchise.

At 28 years old, Hill is currently enjoying his best season as a professional, appearing in a career-high 53 games. His performance has been pivotal in getting Vegas atop the Pacific Division standings, boasting a 2.53 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. Highlighting his strong play this season, Hill recorded a notable 27-save shutout against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night.

Previously, Hill was considered somewhat of a journeyman, having no prior playoff experience and entering his third professional organization. The unexpected opportunity for Hill arose two years ago during the playoffs' second round, when injuries sidelined teammates Logan Thompson and Laurent Brossoit. Hill capitalized impressively on this chance, going 11-4 with an excellent 2.17 goals-against average and a league-leading .932 save percentage, performance strong enough to help Vegas secure their first-ever Stanley Cup Championship.
