Jackie and Shadow, the Big Bear bald eagle couple, are known for their parenting journey that has been livestreamed to the world. However, it seems one of their three eaglets that hatched this season is missing.
A video of the nest posted on social media on Thursday afternoon showed three baby birds being fed by their parents. But as of Friday, only two eaglets were seen in the nest, according to the Big Bear Bald Eagle Live Nest Cam.
The reason for the missing eaglet is unclear. "We were only able to see two chicks during the first feeding so we are not sure what is going on," said Jenny Voisard, media and website manager for Friends of Big Bear Valley. "Our view into the nest bowl is partially obstructed by snow, and there is a big part of it that we cannot see."
Voisard asks for positive thoughts as they wait for updates from nature.
Jackie laid three eggs at the end of January, and all three hatched last week. The first hatched on March 3, the second on March 4, and the third a few days later. It is unclear which of the three birds is missing.

Completely irresponsible to broadcast this without having a plan in an emergency situation.

Commenting online won't help; we should reconsider if livestreaming wildlife is truly ethical!

Heartbreaking news, but hoping it's just hiding in the nest somewhere. Stay optimistic!

How can they allow this eaglet to just vanish? Someone must have answers!

Nature can be tough, but I have faith in this wonderful eagle couple. Stay strong, little eaglets!

Maybe the little one is just nestled deep and hidden. Keep positive vibes coming!

So tired of seeing these heartbreaking scenarios; let wildlife live without human interference.
