Gretzky Wine Labels Allegedly Tampered With in Toronto Store
Wayne Gretzky, the legendary hockey player, has faced backlash for his unwavering support of President Donald Trump. This has included calls to rename Wayne Gretzky Drive in Edmonton and a petition that garnered over 13,300 signatures.
Amidst this controversy, pictures have surfaced on Reddit showing altered descriptions under bottles of Wayne Gretzky Estates pinot grigio and cabernet merlot in a Toronto liquor store. The pinot grigio label reads "Weak & backstabery," while the cabernet merlot label claims the wine is "sad & two-faced." Both labels boast that the wine is made in the U.S., despite the winery being based in Ontario.
The LCBO, Ontario's liquor body, has denied that the labels were tampered with in their stores. They believe the images may be photoshopped and have found no evidence to suggest otherwise. A staff member at the store in question also denied any knowledge of the altered labels.
The Reddit post containing the images was removed due to the lack of a source for the image. This was done to combat the spread of false information.
The Independent has reached out to both the LCBO and Wayne Gretzky Estates for further information.

The altered labels gave me a good laugh, but I understand why people are disappointed in Gretzky.

Maybe Gretzky will consider his actions and political stance now that Canadians clearly express discontent.

I love how someone had the guts to call out Gretzky's support for Trump in such a subtle way.

Clearly fake news at its finest, trying to stir controversy over a hockey legend who's done nothing wrong.

Public figures need to understand their choices have public consequences, even humorous ones.
