A 32-year-old man, weighing less than 70 pounds, was rescued from a burning home in Connecticut. He had been held captive for over 20 years by his stepmother, Kimberly Sullivan, who is now facing charges of kidnapping, unlawful restraint, and cruelty.
The man's room was a small, windowless space with no heat or air conditioning. He had been deprived of food, water, and medical care for years. He was forced to use bottles and newspapers for his bathroom needs.
The man's father, who died in 2024, had allowed him out of the room to do chores and watch television. However, after his father's death, the man's treatment worsened. He was not allowed to leave the room and was subjected to further abuse and neglect.
Sullivan has denied the allegations, claiming that the man's door was not locked and that he was allowed to move freely throughout the home. However, a warrant found a slide lock outside his room.
Neighbors were shocked to learn of the man's captivity. One neighbor said that he had seen the man in the backyard, looking like a child. Another neighbor said that she had seen the man at the window, smiling and waving at her.
The man is now receiving medical and psychological care. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The stepmother deserves the harshest punishment possible. Her actions are unforgivable. 🤬
