Judge Orders Trump Administration to Rehire Fired Probationary Workers
A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration must immediately rehire tens of thousands of probationary federal employees who were unlawfully terminated from multiple agencies.
Judge William Alsup called the mass firing a "gimmick" and a "sham," and ordered the agencies to rehire the workers. He also extended a temporary injunction prohibiting the Office of Personnel Management from issuing guidance about whether workers can be terminated.
This ruling is the latest legal blow to President Trump's efforts to drastically reduce the federal workforce. While agencies may still conduct reductions in force, they must follow proper protocol.
The White House criticized the ruling, accusing the judge of overreaching. However, unions representing the fired employees praised the decision, calling it an important first step in holding the administration accountable for its unlawful actions.

Taxpayers shouldn't have to fund needless bureaucratic positions.

Ridiculous decision! Agencies should have the right to streamline their workforce to better serve taxpayers.

Typical judicial overreach. Another activist judge obstructing commonsense reform.

It's sad when government employees are guaranteed jobs, even at taxpayers' expense.
