The G7 foreign ministers convened in Charlevoix, Canada, on Wednesday, March 12th, to deliberate on strategies to end the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who had previously met with Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss a potential ceasefire, downplayed inquiries regarding a possible American takeover of the host nation.
Rubio emphasized the need for the G7, a group of industrialized democracies, to acknowledge the positive contributions made by the United States to the global community. He cited Ukraine's endorsement of a 30-day truce with Russia, which was proposed by the United States, as an example of such contributions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed confidence that the United States would respond forcefully and exert pressure on Moscow if Russia declined to accept the ceasefire proposal, which has resulted in the loss of tens of thousands of lives. The Kremlin, in its initial response, indicated that it was awaiting further details from Washington.

Zelenskyy is right to put his faith in the US. They are our strongest ally.

This whole ceasefire proposal feels like a PR stunt for the US.
