Collingwood premiership defender Brayden Maynard was involved in a two-car accident in Brighton on Friday morning. Fortunately, neither Maynard nor the passengers in the other vehicle were hurt. This was Maynard's second car crash in the space of 14 months. He missed a training session in January 2024 after being involved in a car crash on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway. No one was injured in that crash either.
Maynard has played 210 games since making his AFL debut in 2015. He was a key figure in Collingwood's 2023 premiership campaign. He is expected to play in Saturday night's clash with Port Adelaide at the MCG.
"Fortunately, neither Brayden nor the passengers in the other vehicle were hurt in the accident. Speaking with Brayden this morning, this was an unfortunate accident, but thankfully he and the other driver and passenger were okay."
Maynard's first car crash occurred on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway in January 2024. He missed a training session as a result of the accident, but no one was injured.
The 28-year-old is a key member of Collingwood's backline and is expected to play a crucial role in the team's bid for a second consecutive premiership. He is known for his tough and uncompromising style of play, and his ability to shut down opposition forwards.
Maynard's latest accident is a reminder of the importance of road safety. It is important to always be aware of your surroundings when driving, and to take all necessary precautions to avoid accidents.

Sending positive vibes his way. Everyone makes mistakes, and I'm sure he'll bounce back from this.

Professional athlete, making millions, and can't afford a driver? Bad example for young fans.

Another car crash?! This guy needs to get off the road before he hurts himself or someone else seriously.

I used to be a fan, but this is just irresponsible. He needs to take responsibility for his actions.

2 car crashes in 14 months? Is this guy cursed? Not a good look for Collingwood.

Collingwood needs to address this. Two accidents in such a short time frame is unacceptable.

He's been open about the first accident and learned from it. Let's trust he'll do the same this time.
