A History of Alleged Crimes and a New Charge in the Death of a Reporter
Danette Colbert, a 48-year-old woman from Louisiana, has been accused of drugging and robbing several men, including a Super Bowl reporter who was found dead in February.
Colbert's criminal history includes convictions for computer fraud, theft, and illegal transmission of monetary funds. In 2021, she was sentenced to five years of probation for drugging and robbing a man of over $80,000 in cryptocurrency. However, Louisiana's Attorney General Liz Murrill is working to revoke that sentence and impose a harsher one, arguing that Colbert was not eligible for probation due to her status as a "habitual offender."
Colbert is also facing charges in connection with the death of Telemundo reporter Adan Manzano. She has been accused of fraud, purse snatching, computer fraud, and other property crimes. Manzano's body was found in a hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, on February 5th. A preliminary toxicology report showed he had Xanax in his system, which he did not have a prescription for. Authorities have said Colbert could face additional charges after an autopsy and toxicology testing are complete.
In addition to the charges related to Manzano's death, Colbert is also facing accusations from a dozen people who believe they or their loved ones may have been victims of her crimes. This includes the death of a Maryland man who was found unresponsive in a French Quarter hotel room in December.
Colbert's attorney has not yet responded to a request for comment.

I hope this case brings more attention to the issue of drugging and robbery, and leads to stricter laws and enforcement to protect people from these types of crimes. 🚨

We need to remember that the victims are also human beings who made mistakes. Let's not forget their humanity in the midst of this tragedy. 🙏

It's sickening to think that someone would exploit and take advantage of others in such a cruel way. People like her should be locked away for good. 🔒

This is a reminder to always be cautious and aware of your surroundings. You never know who might be lurking with bad intentions. 🔐

It's important to remember that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but with a history like hers, it's hard not to feel disgusted and angry. 😠
