A Pennsylvania man attempting to pass through security at Newark Liberty International Airport was found to have a live turtle concealed in his pants. The incident occurred on Friday when a body scanner alarm alerted TSA officers. Upon further inspection, the officers discovered a 5-inch red-ear slider turtle wrapped in a blue towel hidden in the man's groin area.
The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was questioned and subsequently removed from the checkpoint by Port Authority police, causing him to miss his flight. The turtle was confiscated, and the reason behind its concealment remains unclear.
"We have encountered attempts to conceal knives and other weapons on individuals, in shoes, and luggage, but this is the first instance we've come across someone concealing a live animal down the front of their pants," remarked Thomas Carter, TSA's Federal Security Director for New Jersey. He further stated that the incident is under investigation and the man might face potential charges or penalties.

I hope this serves as a warning to anyone thinking of doing something similar. It's not worth the risk.

This is just plain stupid and disrespectful. Do people have no common sense anymore?

This incident is a disgrace. It undermines the efforts of legitimate emotional support animal owners.

This is absolutely insane! What kind of person would try to smuggle a turtle through airport security?

I actually think it's kind of funny. I mean, who would have thought someone would try to sneak a turtle through security? 😂
